Construction and Apprenticeship

A Promising Future
Nationwide, the construction & trades industry is experiencing a tremendous shortage of qualified craft workers. This demand is expected to increase as the workforce continues to age and many highly skilled workers retire in the next 5 to 7 years. Although the housing market has had a downturn in the Treasure Valley, not long ago there were more jobs available than graduates to fill them. Those who are working in the industry can participate in training through our Apprenticeship Programs or upgrade their skills through attending the more advanced construction classes.

Women As Skilled Trades Workers
The most significant change in the demographic of this workforce is the number of women successfully embarking on these careers. Note: If you are a woman considering this field as an option, be sure to contact the CWI Center for New Directions.
