This program will train you to repair and maintain diesel powered equipment such as trucks, buses, farm equipment, stationary engines, and components. With these skills, you can pursue a career as an equipment technician in the construction, logging, trucking, or farming industries.

* Students with prior experience or high school training in automotive or diesel technology may receive advanced placement in the program.
What Will You Learn to Do?
The training outline includes diesel theory, care and use of tools, principles and repair of the internal combustion engine, fuel systems, lubrication systems, cooling systems, hydraulic, air, and engine brake systems, transmissions, differentials, drive lines, basic hydraulics, suspension and steering systems, electrical systems, engine performance, understanding service/parts manuals, shop safety, and shop maintenance, communication skills and occupational relations.
What Else Should I Know?
A typical day is six hours of classroom and lab work. Students may work part-time in a related field while in the program.
What Kind of Degree(s) Can I Earn?
- Associate of Applied Science Degree - AAS (approximately two-years)
- Advanced Technical Certificate - ATC (approximately 16 months)
- Technical Certificate - TC (approximately one-year)
- Postsecondary Technical Certificate – PTC (usually less than one-year)
