Drafting work is exciting and challenging. As a drafting graduate, you will be prepared for a wide variety of entry level technical positions, and equipped with the skills needed for advancement.

Areas of employment include architectural design firms, civil engineers, technical consultants, and mechanical, structural, machine, manufacturing, electrical, surveying, and graphic design firms.

What Will You Learn to Do?
- Translate ideas and designs into complete and accurate working plans
- Prepare mechanical, architectural, civil, and structural drawing using both conventional and computer-assisted techniques
- Understand general engineering procedures
- Utilize the most recent AutoCAD skills
- Operate the latest computer hardware and software
- Apply communications, physics, and applied math skills in the workplace
- Develop workplace interactive communications
- Use reference catalogs to identify specific information such as parts and manufacturers
- Write a resume, search for a job, and interview effectively
- Apply customer service skills to relationships with clients, engineers, and shop foremen.

What Else Should I Know?
An average day is divided between working with clients and working on the computer.

What Kind of Degree(s) Can I Earn?
- Associate of Applied Science Degree - AAS (approximately two-years)
- Advanced Technical Certificate - ATC (approximately 16 months)
- Technical Certificate - TC (approximately one-year)
