CWI Students to Showcase Work at 2024 Connections Project

Plan to join College of Western Idaho (CWI) for the ninth-annual Connections Project Thursday, April 18 at the Nampa Campus Academic Building (NCAB). A showcase of the hard work and accomplishments of our students, this annual event celebrates culture, collaboration, education, innovation, and achievement. Here are the event details:

Posters and Club Submissions

Thursday, April 18
Session 1: 2 – 3 p.m.
Session 2: 3 – 4 p.m.
Session 3: 4 – 5 p.m.
Nampa Campus Academic Building (NCAB), 2nd Floor Atrium

Student posters will then be on display throughout NCAB.

Juried Art Exhibition

Thursday, April 18
NCAB, 2nd Floor Art Gallery, Room 206

Sue Latta, Boise State lecturer, was chosen as this year’s juror. The winner of this year’s exhibition will be announced at the Connections Project Awards Ceremony. Details on the ceremony are below. 

Mini Talks

Thursday, April 18
Session 1: 2 – 3 p.m.
Session 2: 3 – 4 p.m.
Session 3: 4 – 5 p.m.
NCAB, Rooms 102E, 105, and 106

Student Mini Talk presentations will include topics including Myths in Popular Psychology, the How and Why of Campus Involvement, Humanities and Social Science Tutoring, Children’s Play, Occupational Therapy, and more.

Panel Discussions and Readings 

Thursday, April 18
President's Writing Awards: 2:30 – 4 p.m.
Student Readings: 4 – 5:30 p.m.
NCAB, Student Lounge Room 122

Topics include first-year writing, essays, creative nonfiction, fiction, poetry, critical analysis, literature-based research, original research, and workplace writing. Some titles of topics that will be presented on are, “The Path to Becoming a School Counselor,” “An Analysis of Brain Tumor and Aneurysm Support Groups,” “Emotional Literacy in the World,” “Food Wars,” “Therapy Dog,” “Trauma Informed Yoga,” and more. 

Reception

Thursday, April 18
5:30 – 7 p.m.
NCAB, Student Lounge Room 122, and West Patio

Guests are welcome to pizza and cake while celebrating the hard work and achievements of the students.

Awards Ceremony

Thursday, April 18
6 – 6:45 p.m.
NCAB, Student Lounge Room 122

The ceremony will recognize winners of the Connections Logo Competition, Connections Excellence Awards, President's Writing Awards finalists, Juried Art Exhibition winner and Emerging Scholars recipients.

The Connections Excellence Awards and President's Writing Awards winners will be announced at the CWI Student Leadership Awards Banquet at Jack’s Urban Meeting Place (JUMP) on April 26, 2024.
