College of Western Idaho
Important Announcement:

Disbursements & Refunds

Your Student Account

When you register for classes at CWI, a student account associated with your student ID number is established and your student account is charged for tuition, fees, etc.

Disbursements

Once you've completed the financial aid application process each year and have received an award notification, your financial aid awards (listed on your award notification) will appear on your student account just prior to the start of classes each semester as "anticipated aid". Your financial aid awards will be released each semester on the scheduled disbursement date listed on the academic calendar.

Financial aid awards are based on the number of credits you are enrolled in at the close of regular business on the published census date each semester. Your enrollment status will be monitored and your aid adjusted according to your actual enrollment status on the census date. If your enrollment status changes after the census date, your financial aid cannot be adjusted either up or down. Currently, the scheduled disbursement date is the same date as the census date - the 10th day of instruction in the Fall and Spring semesters and the 5th day of instruction in Summer semesters.

Refunds

Financial aid funds are used first to pay direct institutional costs (tuition, fees, etc). If after financial aid funds are disbursed to your student account and there is still a balance owed, it is your responsibility to pay the balance at that time or make satisfactory payment arrangements agreed upon by CWI One Stop Student Services. If your financial aid funds exceed the amount owed to CWI for tuition, fees, etc. you will receive a refund.

CWI's Refund "Agent"

Beginning Spring 2010, CWI and our accreditation partner, the College of Southern Idaho, will be partnering with HigherOne, a financial services company focused solely on higher education to bring a new method of receiving your financial aid/scholarship disbursements. All students who are eligible for financial aid refunds will receive a new CSI EagleOne Card.

IMPORTANT: All students who will receive a financial aid refund will receive a CSI EagleOne Card. Use your CSI EagleOne Card to access the HigherOne portal and select your refund method. For more information about the CSI EagleOne Card and available refund methods, please click here.

The CSI EagleOne Card will provide you with more choices when it comes to receiving your financial aid disbursements. Please be sure that your mailing address is current by reviewing your information online in the myCSI portal. Activate your card as soon as you receive it.

Remember, even if you are not currently expecting a disbursement from CSI, we may have a disbursement for you in the future. Please visit our HigherOne page to learn more about all the great benefits that accompany the new CSI Eagle One Card.

Returning Student Loans

You have the right to cancel a portion or all of your student loan(s) within 14 days of the disbursement date. If you receive a refund check, you must return the check (DO NOT VOID THE CHECK) to One Stop Student Services within 14 days of disbursement (see your student account) to allow for the processing of the loan return to the lender.
