Undecided Students

“Begin with the end in mind,” (Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, Covey, Stephen, 1989) Students are more likely to stick to their educational goals if they know what those goals will help them achieve. Students who aren’t yet sure if they want to get a two year degree or a four year degree or if they want to be a dental hygienist, scientist, teacher, or a welder, can visit the Career and College Transfer Center. CWI provides tools to help students narrow their focus so they can begin to apply their educational efforts in the same direction.

One tool available is MyPlan.com.  You can access MyPlan at cwidaho.myplan.com. There are four assessments available through MyPlan.

  • The first is a personality assessment based on the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI).
  • The second is an interests assessment based on the Holland Codes used in the Strong Interest Inventory.
  • The third is a skills assessment based on measurements of General Cognitive Ability, Complexity Indices, and Vocational Preparation Metrics.
  • The fourth is a values assessment based on Dawis and Lofquist’s (1984) Theory of Work Adjustment.

MyPlan will create a composite score based on all the assessments the student takes and compare that score, as well as the individual scores, to the 748 careers in their database. If you would like to take the free assessments, simply create an account and enter the code RK9RFLCC on the second page of the account creation process.
