Advising
The College of Western Idaho offers many programs at many locations. To support students on their educational journey, CWI offers advising through a variety of means:
- Prospective and first-semester students are assisted by One Stop and Enrollment Specialists. See more information on applying and registering or visit any One Stop Student Services location.
- Professional Technical Education students are assigned to an advisor during their first semester. Prior to registering for a second semester, the student will be assigned a faculty advisor. The faculty advisor assigned will be from the student's program of study and can assist with career preparation, course selection and general mentorship.
- General Education students may become self-advised, participate in group advising, or be assigned to a specific faculty advisor during their second semester. Students who want to self-advise can complete the Self-Advised Request form and turn it in at any One Stop Student Services location. Students desiring to participate in group advising should sign up to attend a group advising session by emailing onestop@cwidaho.cc. General Education students are matched with a faculty advisor following their attendance to a group session.
- Undecided students should visit the Career and College Transfer Center for assistance in identifying their educational goals. Visit MyPlan for more information about career choices and the educational needs of each. Students can contact a One Stop Student Service office to arrange to meet with a career advisor.
